According to Mia, these monsters have very specific names. She identifies them as above on every page. It goes without saying that this is one of her FAVORITE books. Luckily, I am not in the book!

The ability to make a representational shift from self or person to a drawing typically comes at age 3-4. Mia is so precocious! She is always naming the pictures in the toileting book also and poor Josie is the one with her bottom in the air and Marcus is missing an important piece of equipment. The Mommy in the toileting book looks too old and too large to be Mia’s Mommy so she called her GaGa. I don’t know that it was a compliment. They are all just too cute!
GaGa – I can only imagine what Mia is naming the pictures in the potty book, I don’t understand why Josie’s bottom is up in the air, and I thought Marcus had extra equipment rather than a missing piece. ??
I can vouch for the real Marcus having all the requisite parts. The picture in the potty that Mia calls Marcus is deficient, however, so Mia has not yet notice Marcus’ “extra equipment”. No penis envy yet! The pictures in the potty book are all of the same little girl learning about toileting. Mia is just clever enough to identify herself with the picture in the least embarrassing position—and puts her sister is the most compromising posture. Oh wait ’til they are teenagers and picking on each other! What a fun family.
OK miss Mia. You are funny little girl.

Well, Max is the 2nd from the left, so you must be the one on the far right. Nice beak. And I think we made a rather handsome family.
